5 things you should never put under the kitchen sink

If you have kitchen roll, dishcloth, sponge or any other type of cloth, whether new or used, you should never store it under the sink, because this damp, dark and closed place is ideal for the spread of bacteria. This type of object, precisely because of its highly absorbent composition, quickly becomes contaminated and it is dangerous to use it (therefore always remember to disinfect it thoroughly). Only sponges and dishcloths that are still sealed in their packaging and have never been opened or used can be stored in the sink cabinet.

4. Dishwasher tablets and detergent

It's natural to store dishwasher tablets and dishwashing detergent in the cupboard under the sink, as this appliance is located right next to the sink in most kitchens. Be careful: they're fine if they're new and unopened, but if they're already open, they'll quickly deteriorate due to the humidity in the room. Also, if you have children or pets at home, these products can be at a height and dangerously easy to access.

5. Potatoes, onions and other foods

The problem is always moisture: Products like potatoes and onions, flour and even salt are very sensitive to moisture, and while they definitely need a dark place, they also need to be away from heat and moisture. If they are stored under the sink, they will rot quickly; it is best to store them in a basement or, if there is none, in a cupboard away from light, heat and moisture.
