5 things you should never put under the kitchen sink

The sink is a very easy place to store a variety of things that you don't know where to put them.

However, there are certain categories of items (and foods) that you should never store in that room because they can go bad: here's what they are and why you should never leave them under the sink.

Let's figure it out together.

1. Paper and cardboard

Even the most well-maintained sink can have small leaks that make the area underneath very damp. That's why the first thing you should never store in the cupboard under it is anything made of paper and cardboard: napkins, boxes, bags and kitchen paper are all at risk because the moisture not only softens the paper, but can ruin everything stored in the boxes and bags.

2. Small appliances

For the same reason, it is not recommended to store small appliances or other electrical or rust-causing devices under the sink: water and humidity are the worst enemies of appliances, which can short-circuit and destroy them. The safest way to store hand blenders, food processors, mixers and other small appliances is in a dry cupboard, preferably in their original packaging. Also, be careful with items that are prone to rust or items made of highly absorbent materials that come into contact with food, as humidity can damage them and force you to throw them away.

3. Dishcloths and sponges
